El Battlefield 3 ORIGINal no me funciona. Solucionado.

Ya estoy como con el RAGE, me dice que AMD tiene 11.1 y hace falta el 11.7.

No sé inglés, con la ayuda de Google he traducido algo todo el resto pero no sé quén es lo que han hecho para que le funcione.

BootCamp AMD Graphics Driver Update issue with iMac (Win7 64)
Hello everyone,

I've been using Boot Camp for ages since my 2006 iMac and I'm having trouble with it with my 2011 iMac. My iMac is a 27" Early 2011 model with an i7 and the upgraded 2GB VRAM / Graphics option. So my graphics card is a Radeon HD 6970M (As listed by Apple). Maybe I've been using my PC for too long and forgot the exact process of upgrading the Apple BootCamp graphics drives to standard ATI/AMD ones (if that's still possible).

So I've had Borderlands installed on my iMac and it ran great on max settings etc. So I installed Battlefield 3 today and upon launch it says my AMD graphics drives were at version 11.1 and I should upgrade to 11.7 (or something similar). I ignored it at first but the pop-up was frustrating so I decided to download the new AMD drivers.

I uninstalled the existing drivers, so I'm left with Microsoft's Plug-N-Play driver with a stretched screen and a low resolution. Then I downloaded the AMD drivers (Desktop Drivers > Radeon HD > 6xxx model, Win 7 64 etc). I followed the installer and it says everything was installed successfully. But I do not see any of the usual ATI programs installed. I reboot again, still nothing.

Under 'Device Manager' my Displays tab is gone. And under Control Panel under displays it lists no information for my graphics card, it's just a standard plug-in-play monitor. Also if I try to update the driver manually it will tell me that the driver I have installed is the newest one available.

The installation folder (where the driver or suite is supposed to be installed) is empty. I've tried re-installing countless times, even when it says it was successful the folder is empty!!

I tried updating to Apple's BootCamp 3.3 update, but it says my system is already updated. I also tried to download just the AMD driver instead of the suite, but that also comes up with a 'successfull' install, but with nothing installed! I also tried the Laptop/Mobile driver, but it refuses to install saying I don't have the right hardware.

I guess my main question is: Is it possible to update the AMD Graphics driver using the regularly supplied AMD drivers? I remember doing this on my old iMac and I never had an issue. I hope it's the same...

Any help would be great, this is beyond frustrating.

Update: As of now I've reverted to the Apple provided drivers as I've had not luck with anything else.

Video drivers have always been pain in the buns on iMac. What I did with iMac, I installed 11.8 pre-view drivers and then I updated to 11.9.

Whoa, 11.8 Preview drivers works perfectly! Quite surprised by that. No luck with 11.9 though. It goes through the installer but doesn't actually do anything.

Thanks for the tip! Are the 11.8 drivers stable though? I'm assuming because they are beta / preview drivers they may not be. I read elsewhere someone had performance issues with them.

Currently I just rolled back to the Apple drivers. Thankfully BF3 will nag me about the drivers, but it doesn't prevent me from playing. Whew!

Vaya, resulta que al actualizar a Lion entra el Boot Camp 4 pero si ya se tenía una partición de Boot Camp no se puede actualizar a la versión 4. ¿Y con esta versión se resolvería el problema?

Una de las actividades que solemos hacer los maniáticos de los ordenadores es que cuando algo no funciona repetimos y repetimos como si nos nos creyéramos lo que está ocurriendo. Nos entra el gusanito de: voy a probar otra vez a ver qué ocurre.

Y por segunda vez he inciado el Battlefield 3 y me ha vuelto a aparecer la ventanita de error indicando que 11.1 nada que el 11.7 o superior.

Pues me he dirigido a www.amd.com y mientras rebuscaba se apagó la pantalla, todo en negro, y lo primero que pensé: Telefónica tiene la culpa. Seguramente no pero queda bien decirlo.

Luego a parece un cuadradito pequeño y parpadeante en la esquina inferior derecha, y así se quedó.

Hasta que apareció el juego, y sorprendentemente funciona. Cosas.

Voy a probar otra vez el RAGE, pero seguro que éste no arranca.

He conseguido que cargue el RAGE, funciona la presentación, funcionan los menúes y se puede configurar, funciona todo, casi.

Cuando se inicia la acción, cuando puedes manejar al personaje desaparecen las texturas, se ponen en color sólido, todo azul mezclado con otros tonos y el cielo casi siempre sale bien.

He conseguido cargar el juego porque me he bajado de AMD un fichero que detecta la tarjeta e instala el Cataclys o como se llame, que antes no se podía.

El windows me dice que ha detectado hardware nuevo y le he hecho de nuevo la prueba de rendimiento.

Pero no se puede jugar, es imposible. Pero ya me falta menos, ¿qué será?

Has puesto los últimos parches de RAGE??

Al principio tuvieron bastantes problemas de texturas, puede que vayan los problemas por ahí...

Ya está solucionado. Desinstalé el Catalyst que había puesto e instalé el que han sacado para el RAGE:

amd_catalyst_rage_performance.exe

Que es la suite del Catalyst que soluciona el problema de las texturas.

Mañana seguiré probándolo para ver si la solución es definitiva y no se escogorciado demasiado el windows.

Lo malo de ésto es que Steam no ha informado de la solución, ah bueno, Steam ha avisado hoy de que le han hackeado las cuentas de los foros y quizás de las tarjetas de créditos de los que andamos por ahí, total, pecata minuta.

Los parches los instala el mismo Steam pero lo que hay es que poner el Catalyst específico, que sólo un chalao es capaz de metérselo al Boot Camp. Menos mal que siempre he contado con el backup que tengo por ahí.

Al instalar amd_catalyst_rage_performance.exe sale un error, pues a seguir que se soluciona el problema.
